Reduce Your Stormwater Fee

Credit Manual

Stormwater Management Utility Fee Ordinance establishing a stormwater utility fee for property owners based on impervious area takes effect on January 1, 2022. Property owners can see an estimate of what they may be paying next year by visiting our parcel estimate. However, property owners can reduce their fee by reducing their impervious area or applying for credits and/or exemptions. Credits can reduce a property's stormwater fee up to 40%.

All of these credits are outlined in our Stormwater Credit Manual. Some of these include adopting an inlet, disconnected downspouts, or adding rain barrels to the property. Throughout the year, Ferguson Township will be producing how-to videos and other informational content to help property owners apply for these credits. Stay tuned to our social media channels and website to learn more.

In addition to credits, 3 exemption policies were adopted to reduce the stormwater fee for specific property owners: the Hardship Policy, the Ag Exemption Policy, and the Non-Profit Exemption Policy. Please view the policies to see if your property qualifies.

Property owners will need to apply for these credits and exemptions no later than September 30, 2021. Currently, the credit application forms can be found in our Credit Manual and can be sent to our Public Works Director. The Township will be adding fillable online forms for credits and exemptions to the Township's website by mid-June.

For questions about the stormwater fee, please contact Ferguson Township Public Works Director, David Modricker by email or at 814-238-4651.
