What You Need to Know About the Stormwater Fee

Stormwater Fee Adopted

During their regular meeting, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Stormwater Management Utility Fee Ordinance. This ordinance establishes a stormwater utility fee that allocates stormwater management program costs to property owners based on impervious area. The policy will not become effective until January 1, 2022. The utility fee will be sent out in March of 2022 on residents' tax bills.

Property owners can reduce their stormwater fee by receiving “credits” if they have implemented practices that reduce the impact of stormwater on the publicly-managed system or reduce their impervious area. Some of these credits include adopting an inlet, disconnecting downspouts, and implementing best management practices. Applying for these credits can reduce your fee by up to 40%. All this information can be found in our Stormwater Credit Manual.

To help our residents understand the impact of the stormwater fee, we will be spreading the word about the fee through all our communications including social media, mailings, and print newsletters.
