What can someone do if they or a loved one needs help:
- Center for Community Resources Mobile Crisis Hotline: Call 1-800-643-5432 to speak with a crisis counselor. A mobile crisis counselor can meet with someone in their place of choice and make referrals to mental health services. This service is available 24/7.
- Center for Community Resources Crisis Walk-in Center, located at 2100 E. College Ave., Suite A. Open 24/7 for anyone experiencing a mental health emergency that does not require medical care or treatment.
- Centre County Office of Mental Health/Intellectual Disabilities/Early Intervention-Drug & Alcohol (MH/ID/EI-D&A), 814-355-6786, 3500 E. College Ave., Suite 1200. Serves individuals from the age of three through the lifespan that are diagnosed with emotional disorders or mental illness through the provision of case management services.
- Mount Nittany Medical Center Emergency Room, 814-231-7000, located at 1800 E. Park Ave. Available 24/7 to provide psychiatric assessment and emergency mental health treatment.
Support for families, advocates and people living with mental illness:
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): provides recovery-focused support, education, and advocacy for people living with mental illness and their loved ones. Local support meetings are held 2nd Tuesday of the month at South Hills School of Business and Technology, Room 16, 480 Waupelani Drive, State College. Call 814-883-2988 for more information.
