Ferguson Township Police Department

On October 24, 2021, at approximately 10:26 PM, Ferguson Township Police responded to a crash involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle at North Atherton St and West North Hills Place. The initial investigation indicates that a Kia Spectra 5 sedan was traveling southbound on North Atherton St. The driver failed to see the bicyclist in the roadway. The bicyclist had no lights or reflectors. At this time, it is unknown if the bicyclist was crossing the roadway or riding in the roadway. Both the vehicle operator and the bicyclist were injured. They were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center. The bicyclist sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was later flown by Life-Flight to Hershey Medical Center. North Atherton Street was closed in both directions for over two hours. The roadway is now open to normal traffic. Poor visibility due to adverse weather conditions was a contributor in the accident.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ferguson Township Police Department at 1-800-479-0050 or 814-237-1172. Ferguson Township was assisted by Patton Township Police, Centre Life Link EMS, the Alpha Fire Department and Alpha Fire Police.
