Sidewalk Snow Removal Reminder

Since the first snowstorm of the year, our Ordinance Officer has given out many citiations due to residents not removing snow and ice from sidewalks. The Police Department would like to remind residents of Ferguson Township's Code of Ordinance.

From November to March, property owners are responsible for clearing the full width of the sidewalk along their property within 24 hours after snow or ice fall has stopped. This includes clearing dedicated paved streets within apartment complexes. If there is a violation, the property will receive a written notice of warning. The violation must be corrected within 24 hours and failure to correct the violation will result in additional notices and appropriate fines. Continued offenses can lead to legal action.
