Free Gun Locks Available: Put Your Child's Safety First

Firearms are the leading cause of death for children in the United States. According to the CDC's latest data from 2020, over 4,300 children were killed by guns by homicide, suicide, and unintentional accidents.

4.6 million American children live in homes with guns that are both loaded and unlocked, giving them easy access to dangerous weapons.

Research shows that secure firearm storage practices are associated with up to an 85% reduction in self-inflicted and unintentional firearm injuries among children and teens. As part of Suicide Awareness and Prevention month, the Ferguson Township Police Department is doing its part to ensure safe storage of firearms by partnering with Project ChildSafe, the largest firearms safety education program in the United States, to distribute free gun locks.
