PennDOT, Safety Partners to Highlight Aggressive Driving Enforcement Efforts

On Wednesday, November 9, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Ferguson Township Police Department and the Highway Safety Network, will highlight the efforts of law enforcement during a statewide high visibility aggressive driving enforcement wave. The event will take place near the intersection of Blue Course Drive and West College Avenue, State College

Ferguson Township Police Sergeant Ryan Hendrick will give an overview of Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law, which requires drivers approaching an emergency response area to either merge into a lane farther away or slow down. He will discuss the legal consequences of being convicted of a violation and the danger these violations pose to motorists and emergency responders. He will also offer tips with visual cues on how and when motorists must comply with this law.

Josh Woods, Community Traffic Safety Project Coordinator with the Highway Safety Network, will discuss Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping Law, the legal consequences of being convicted for a violation and the danger these violations pose to drivers and the children riding the school bus.
