Centre County DUI Task Force shares results of fall semester detail

Drive sober or get pulled over

On Friday August 24, from 10 pm until 4 am, officers from the Centre County DUI Task Force conducted a DUI checkpoint in the 1500 block of North Atherton Street.

As a result of the detail, police arrested seven people for driving under the influence (DUI).  Several of those arrested for DUIs were impaired by drugs and alcohol.  In addition, police arrested one person for providing false identification to law enforcement officers and issued several citations for underage drinking.

Please remember that driving high is driving impaired and you will be arrested for DUI.

The task force included officers from Ferguson Township, Patton Township, Spring Township, the State College Borough, the Centre County Sheriff's Department, and Penn State University— all working in collaboration with each other to strictly enforce all drug- and alcohol-related vehicle crimes.

Officers will be conducting checkpoints as well as roving DUI patrols throughout the fall semester.

You'll never know where the next detail may be, so we remind you to always plan a safe way home.
