Does Ferguson Township regulate chickens?

Yes, a Zoning Permit is required to keep and raise chickens.

  • The Zoning Ordinance in Chapter 27-720 Domestic Chickens, allows the keeping of not more than 6 chicken hens, roosters are not permitted.
  • Chickens must be keep for personal use only and be kept in a chicken coop, chicken tractor or fenced in area (chicken pen) at all times.

The application for a Zoning Permit is available on the Township Website and the Township Office. Please contact the Zoning Administrator in the Planning and Zoning Department at (814) 238-4651 for assistance.
