Traffic Control on Devonshire Dr. the Weeks of April 22 & 29

Upcoming work on the Park Hills Drainageway Project includes the installation of the new storm pipe and structures between the houses at 654 and 660 Devonshire Drive and across Devonshire Drive.  Delays along Devonshire Drive can continue to be expected until that work is completed with flaggers managing traffic when restricted to one lane.

Atherton Street Project Update

PennDOT Announces Traffic Switch Coming on Atherton Street

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers on the schedule for its Atherton Street (Route 3014) project that stretches from Curtin Road to just north of Westerly Parkway in State College.

While the contractor will not work on Friday, May 3, to minimize traffic impacts for those attending spring commencement at Penn State University, drivers traveling through the work zone can expect the following Monday, April 29, through Thursday, May 2.

  • Crews will work on full-depth roadway reconstruction and install new drainage pipes between West Irvin Avenue and Center Lane between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control at the Westerly Parkway intersection as necessary between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. PennDOT urges drivers to build extra time into their travel schedules or consider alternate routes.
  • Additionally, on Tuesday, April 30, a crew will perform signal upgrades at the intersection of Atherton Street and Beaver Avenue. Flaggers in the roadway will once again provide traffic control as needed. PennDOT again urges drivers to anticipate delays or consider other routes.
  • The contractor will keep one lane open to traffic in each direction when not working. A pedestrian detour with posted signage remains in effect at and around the Westerly Parkway intersection.
  • PennDOT expects the traffic to be reduced to a single lane in each direction between West Irvin Avenue and Center Lane until early June while the contractor completes drainage improvements through the work zone.

PennDOT urges motorists to pay attention to work zone and directional signage to enhance safety and keep traffic moving efficiently. Message boards alerting motorists to the construction zone and changing traffic patterns remain in place.

PennDOT posts updates and detour information on the Atherton Street project page weekly and encourages drivers to visit the page at www.penndot.pa.gov/AthertonStreet.
