Meet Lance King, Ferguson Township's Arborist

Did you know Ferguson Township has an Arborist on staff? In 2015 Ferguson Township hired Lance King, the first Township Arborist. Lance came on board from the Borough of State College with 10 years of experience in arboriculture.

Lance is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist Municipal Specialist, along with being Tree Risk Assessment Qualified by the ISA. He is also a Certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional, and a Licensed Pesticide Applicator through the PA Department of Ag.

The Township Arborist’s main responsibility is the management of over 5,000 street trees currently located in Ferguson Township. In addition, the Township Arborist also reviews land development plans, performs inspections, and aids property owners with private property tree matters. On any given day Lance can be found pruning street trees, planting new trees, or speaking with residents regarding tree related matters.
