During the Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting held on March 1, 2022, the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proclamation to celebrate Women's History Month for 2022.

Women’s History Month was first formally declared in the United States in March of 1987 through a resolution passed by the United States Congress as a result of a petitioning effort through the National Women’s History Project, and stems from its early iterations as Women’s History Week, and Women’s History Day, which is still annually held on March 8. Each year since 1987, the acting United States President has issued a proclamation to honor Women's History Month, and the celebration has gained traction across the globe.

The month-long celebration is meant to honor the history and accomplishments of women in America, and to highlight that American society seeks to acknowledge the legacy of women who have made strides in labor rights, civil rights, voting rights, and efforts towards abolition.

Women's History Month of 2022's specific theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope” in order to honor the countless women frontline healthcare workers, medical doctors, and those who have helped make strides in the fields of mental and physical health as we climb out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The proclamation was read in full by Board Member, Hilary Caldwell, and the motion was put forward by Board Member Tierra Williams to pass the proclamation at the Board of Supervisors meeting. The motion passed with unanimous consent of the Board.
