Winter Weather to Hit Centre Region Friday, March 3

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the northern half of Central PA and along the Laurels.

Another bout of mixed precipitation is expected across Central Pennsylvania today and tonight. 

  • A band of snow and sleet will move into the southwest around mid-morning and move northeast through the afternoon. 
  • A period of heavier sleet is possible this evening across the central mountains and northern PA from around sunset until midnight.  
  • Maximum snow and sleet amounts of 2-4" expected in the north-central mountains, with maximum ice accumulation confined to ridgetops of the Laurel Highlands and northern Alleghenies

Gusty winds will also develop this afternoon and evening, the strongest winds will be over the Laurel Highlands. Another period of strong winds is possible Saturday, especially across the south.
