A Week in the Life of Sasha, Community Engagement and Communication Assistant

Sasha Walls

Sasha Walls, our Community Engagement and Communication Assistant finished up her internship and had an exciting last week at Ferguson Township!

Sasha started her week by surveying with the Engineering Technician using AutoCAD software and doing research with the Planning & Zoning Department. Her last week lined up with the brush & leaf collection schedule and was able to shadow the public works crew. They even showed her how to operate some of the equipment! In addition, she shadowed theTownship Engineer who gave her an onsite look at how traffic lights function.

Sasha was hired by Penn State and placed at Ferguson Township for a public service internship will be serving as the Community Engagement and Communication Assistant. Her primary responsibility was to support and assist with communications and outreach for the Township and was provided the opportunities to shadow the other four departments as well.

When speaking about her time at the Township, she had this to say:

"This internship gave me insight to all the responsibilities of the local government and gave me a higher appreciation for everything the township does for its residents. I worked with a group of very passionate individuals that were working for the townships best interest. All summer, I was encouraged to share my ideas and thinking on the topics and learned skills that will help me in my future endeavors."

We wish her the best with her academic career at Penn State.
