The Ferguson Township Administration and Board of Supervisors would like to remind residents of the possible ways to submit an agenda item for discussion at Board of Supervisors meetings.

As established and codified in Ferguson Township's Home Rule Charter, citizens of the Township have the right to be heard, and the Board always accepts public petitions for consideration. Residents are always encouraged to participate in meetings and provide additional community input. See cited code from the Home Rule Charter below:

Section 2.20 - Citizens Right to be Heard.

The Board shall provide reasonable opportunity for Township residents to address the Board on matters of general or special concern. This opportunity shall be afforded the public either at the regular monthly Board meeting or at another regular monthly meeting specially set for this purpose. Further, the public shall have the right to submit agenda items to the Board for the next scheduled meeting. These agenda items are to be submitted at least 1 week prior to the scheduled meeting. Accepted agenda items are to be published between 3 and 7 days before the meeting, as specified in Section 2.13.

(As amended by Ord. 367, 7/26/1988)

Section 9.01 - Free Petition.

The Board shall receive all petitions addressed to them and take such action as they deem necessary and advisable.

Section 9.02 - Group Petitions.

The Board shall hold a public hearing and act with respect to every petition which is addressed to them which is signed by at least fifty electors. Action on the petition shall be taken not later than 3 months after the petition is filed with the Board. The Board shall notify the petitioners at least 48 hours before the hearing by advertising in a newspaper of general circulation in the Township.

Ferguson Township aims to be an inclusive and welcoming environment to all residents, and public discourse is always appreciated and considered.

If you or another Ferguson resident would like an agenda item to be submitted for discussion, here are three ways to provide this information:

  1.  Submit the request at an upcoming Board meeting
  2.  Submit agenda item requests at an upcoming public meeting
  3.  Submit agenda item requests to the Board, or Board Chair via email. Please refer to the current Board Directory.

All submissions must be made one week prior to the scheduled meeting.
