Swimming Pool Safety Reminder from Centre Region Code Administration

Swimming Pool

With the hot summer months upon us, it is important to keep swimming pool safety in mind. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an average of nearly 400 people per year drown in swimming pools and spas. 80 percent of those deaths could be avoided by having the proper safety equipment and guards in place.

The Centre Region Code Administration kindly reminds the community that the Uniform Construction Code of PA requires a permit for the installation of any pools and spas capable of holding 24 inches or more of water (this includes inflatable pools). If the pool is disassembled in winter and reassembled each summer, a permit is required each time it is reassembled. Please contact your local municipality’s zoning and code office for more information.

Please contact Ferguson Township's Planning and Zoning Department online, or at (814) 238-4651 with any questions relating to permit requirements.
