At the Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the Board passed multiple proclamations to recognize multiple upcoming celebrations.

National Public Works Week and National Police Week, both to be held during the week of May 15, 2022, were unanimously passed by the Board of Supervisors.

Dave Modricker, Ferguson Township Public Works Director, stated,

"I would like to thank the Board for passing the proclamation. On May 19 around Noon, we plan to celebrate Public Works Week by having a cookout with the public works crew, and also invite regional public works crews to join us for the occasion. We will also provide a tour of the new Public Works Building at the Township."

Chris Albright, Chief of Police for Ferguson Township, stated,

"Thank you to the Board - this proclamation will be well-received by the men and women of the Ferguson Township Police Department."

The Board also passed a proclamation commemorating May as 2022 Bike Month. The proclamation states,

"Ferguson Township supports the 2022 Bike Month Events and encourages residents and visitors to experience the joys of bicycling through the Bike Scavenger Hunt, Bike Word Search, Bike Bingo, Bike and Munch, Spring Bike Anywhere Friday, Virtual Biking 101 and simply getting out and going for a ride; and the Centre Region is proudly recognized as a Silver level “Bicycle Friendly Community” (BFC) by the League of American Bicyclists"

Trish Meek, Transportation Planner of the Centre Region Planning Agency, stated on the Bike Month proclamation,

"I would like to thank Ferguson Township for always participating and helping promote education and encouragement activities related to bicycle travel. Bicycle travel is not just recreation - it is a true transportation need, and it's really about equity. We (CRPA) want to provide opportunities ot eveyone in the Centre Region to travel in the way they choose to."

Lastly, the Board passed a proclamation to honor 2022 Arbor Day in Ferguson Township. In conjunction with passing the proclamation, the Township will also be hosting a 2022 Arbor Day Celebration at Tom Tudek Memorial Park on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Larry Maginnis, Township Arborist, is organizing the event. Larry stated in regard to the event,

“Come join us in celebrating Ferguson Township’s amazing tree resource and learn some interesting facts about trees.”
