Placing Signs of Personal Expression in the Township

sign

With the 2023 General Election coming up on Tuesday, November 7, Ferguson Township's Ordnance Enforcement Officer would like to remind residents of the rules and regulations regarding the placement of political signs in the Township according to Ferguson Township's Signs and Billboards Ordinance.

Political Signs, considered "personal expression signs", are permitted in the Township and do not require a sign permit. However, residents should please note that:

  1. Residential lots may have up to three temporary signs in the yard.
  2. Personal expression signs are only allowed in your own yard; they are not permitted to be placed in the Township's Right-of-Way (ROW), which is the area between the sidewalk and the street. In areas with no sidewalk, the ROW is typically the area between the utility poles and the street.

For questions regarding signs, please contact the Township’s Ordinance Officer at ordinance@twp.ferguson.pa.us or call (814) 238-4651.
