Mask Wearing Updates and Recommendations

Masking Guidiance

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending better masks as the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus spreads rapidly throughout the United States.

According to a study conducted by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, the type of mask worn drastically reduces the spread of COVID-19. For example, if an infected person & uninfected person are both wearing cloth masks, the time until exposure is only 27 minutes. However, if both parties are wearing N95 masks, this time increase to 25 hours.

Masks need to be properly fitted to your face in order to work effectively, meaning no gaps between your mask and face. Air will take the path of least resistance and without a proper seal, will not go through the filter. The best recommended masks to reduce the spread of COVID-19 are the KN95 & KF94.
