Ferguson Township welcomes Matthew Heller as the newly appointed Ward 1 representative of the Board of Supervisors. The Township is excited to have Mr. Heller's experience and insight contribute to the leadership of Ferguson Township.

The Board of Supervisors received two applications and conducted interviews to fill the vacant Ward I seat on June 22, 2023.  Mr. Heller being the successful applicant, was appointed and sworn in at the Board of Supervisors Special Meeting on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. He will fill the remainder of the term for the Ward 1 seat through December 31, 2023.

The Township leads with a Board comprised of elected and appointed officials. Since 2017, five of seven elected officials that resigned did so to relocate to a residence outside the Township. Ferguson Township Charter requires the Board to fill a vacancy by appointing a person qualified under the Charter to hold such office until the following municipal election. An election for the remaining period of the vacated seat will be held if more than two years remain in the unexpired term. the elected officials and staff are able to ensure that requirements of the Charter are met because of our selfless residents ready to volunteer their time and serve their local government. In recognizing that elected officials sometimes need to attend to other matters that lead to resigning from serving on the Board, the Township is extremely grateful for having interested residents submit their application for Board consideration. It is with gratitude and appreciation to meet and engage with all residents especially residents we've never had the pleasure to meet prior to them throw their hat in the ring to be considered for an opportunity to contribute to public service work as a Board member.
