Ferguson Township Police Attend 2023 Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony

2023 Centre County Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony

On May 17, 2023, Ferguson Township Police attended the Centre County Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony held at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.

The ceremony is held annually to coincide with National Police Week and aims to honor police officers across the country who lost their lives the previous year in the line of duty. In 2022, 246 officers' lives were lost.

Ferguson Township Chief of Police John Petrick MCeed the ceremony and Senator Wayne Langerholc was the keynote speaker. The Centre County Commissioners read the 2023 Peace Officers Memorial Day Proclamation and local law enforcement officers read aloud the names of the 246 officers who lost their lives in 2022. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Honor Guard also assisted with the ceremony.

Police departments from Ferguson Township, State College Borough, Penn State University, Spring Township, Patton Township, Bellefonte Borough, the Centre County Sheriff's Office, and the Pennsylvania State Police were in attendance. Also present were representatives from the Centre County District Attorney's Office, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
