Mokita Dialogues addresses “climate grief” in June talk
Peter Boger

Dread about climate change is so bad that philosophers and psychologists have coined a new term for it: solastalgia. According to surveys, four of the top five emotions people feel when thinking about climate change are anger, sadness, fear, and shame.

On Thursday, June 25, the Jana Marie Foundation’s Mokita Dialogues will look at “Confronting Climate Grief: Beginning to Address Our Existential Dread and Fear.” Peter Boger, assistant director for community outreach and engagement at the Sustainability Institute at Penn State, will lead the discussion. The free program begins at 11 a.m. and will be held via Zoom at tinyurl.com/MokitaDialogues.

Boger will delve into thinking about what we value as a society, what we’re afraid of losing, and what future we’d like to see in our society.
