2023 Black History Month Proclamation

Black History Month

At the regular meeting of the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors on February 21, 2023, the Board adopted a proclamation designating the month of February 2023 as Black History Month.

Black History Month occurs every year in February. This month-long celebration recognizes the struggles and achievements of Black Americans throughout history. The theme for Black History Month in 2023 is "Black Resistance."

Members of the community showed their support of the Proclamation by attending the meeting and speaking on behalf of the African American community. As speaker Ms. Leslie Laing stated, "Our everyday practices, our beliefs, and our social interactions affirm this celebration as a call to action to reform our hierarchies and our social structures that tend to form barriers to our unity as a nation."
