Matt Wilson Sworn In as Ferguson Township Chief of Police

During the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors meeting held on Monday, January 5, 2026, Matt Wilson was officially sworn in as Chief of Police of the Ferguson Township Police Department.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Ferguson Township Municipal Building and was administered by Centre County Judge Katherine Oliver. Township officials, staff, and community members were present.
Chief Wilson brings nearly two decades of progressive law enforcement leadership experience to the role, having served with the State College Police Department. Throughout his career, he held several key command positions, including Assistant Chief, Police Patrol Captain, and Police Patrol Lieutenant.
In these roles, Chief Wilson consistently advanced operational excellence, strengthened officer readiness, and fostered strong community relationships. His responsibilities included overseeing patrol operations, managing personnel and resource deployment, chairing internal review boards, modernizing equipment and technology systems, and coordinating public safety efforts with local, regional, and state agencies, as well as community partners and Penn State University.
Chief Wilson’s leadership philosophy reflects a strong commitment to community-centered policing, transparency, accountability, and public service. Township officials expressed confidence that his experience and vision will continue to enhance public safety and community trust within Ferguson Township.
