Statement on West College Ave Accident

Rachel Breon, PA Furnace, who was facing southbound, stopped for a red light on West College Ave at Science Park Rd. Darin Verbeck, PA Furnace, who was traveling southbound on West College Ave toward Science Park Rd, failed to recognize stopped traffic. Verbeck’s vehicle rear-ended Breon’s vehicle the force of which pushed Breon’s vehicle into the intersection, striking a postal vehicle turning left onto West College Ave from Science Park Rd driven by Taylor Woods. There was no indication that Verbeck attempted to brake before striking Breon. Breon and the 17-year-old passenger were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Verbeck was flown to UPMC Altoona. The Ferguson Township Police Department continues to investigate this incident.
