2018 United Way Day of Caring

Staff representing Ferguson Township's Departments of Administration, Finance, Planning & Zoning, Police, and Public Works proudly participated in the 2018 United Way Day of Caring on Thursday, October 4. The day began with breakfast at the Bryce Jordan Center, served by the Penn State Men's Basketball Team. From there, our team joined volunteers and residents working at three Strawberry Fields lodges, where we weeded flower beds, pruned shrubs and trees, raked, and mulched. Our Public Works workers brought mulch and collected the brush we cut. Meanwhile, at the third site, a Public Works crew installed a concrete sidewalk and 50 feet of hand rail. The following day they seeded and laid topsoil.  Strawberry Fields provides offers a continuum of services to enhance the lives of individuals and families with developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and mental illness.

Centre Region Parks and Recreation (CRPR)'s So Long, Summer Shindig at Tom Tudek Memorial Park

It's an honor for Ferguson Township's Police and Public Works Departments to bring our vehicles to CRPR's "end-of-summer" celebration at Tudek Park. We gave participating children an opportunity to climb into the seat of our brush collector, sit in the front and back seats of a police cruiser, and watch themselves on the monitor as our officer demonstrated our body and vehicle cameras at work. Public Works Road Worker Matt Steele and Sergeant Devon Moran were there to meet and greet families. Our thanks to CRPR for inviting us to participate.
