There’s a Podcast for That!

Schlow virtual event explores the popularity of podcasting
Podcast

No matter what your interests are — whether you have a favorite TV show, craft or hobby, or sports and leisure activity — more than likely there’s a podcast that covers it.

More than one million podcasts are being produced around the world, and there are dozens of ways one can listen to them. Podcasting has become one of the more popular ways to share news and information, or just to be entertained.

To discover more about the world of podcasting, Schlow Centre Region Library  is hosting the virtual event “Podcasts 101: Exploring the World Through Audio” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10. David Pencek, Schlow’s communication manager and host of the Schlow Library Podcast, and Jenna Spinelle, host of the Democracy Works podcast at Penn State, will lead the discussion.

The talk will include a look at why people produce and listen to podcasts, an overview of the podcast genres, and unique ones that can be found.

The Schlow Library Podcast started in 2018 and is a weekly podcast that features conversations on events and news surrounding Schlow Library, the Centre Region, and more. Democracy Works, produced by Penn State’s McCourtney Institute for Democracy and WPSU, is a weekly podcast that examines what it means to live in a democracy.

To register for the free event visit schlowlibrary.org. Attendees will receive an email with the Zoom link by June 9.
