A new family tradition for this special time of year is coming to Schlow Centre Region Library. On December 14 and 15, Schlow will be hosting Frost Fest, with various family activities taking place throughout the library.

The free event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 14, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, December 15. No registration is required.

Frost Fest Flurry, a giant, walk-through board game that will be played in the Downsbrough Community Room. A fun photo opportunity will be available at the end of the game.

Other activities include cookie-decorating in the Sun Room, courtesy of Dolce Vita Desserts, as well as wintry crafts, an ice fishing game, and storytimes in the Children’s Department.

“We had so many neat ideas that it was challenging to narrow them down to the ones that we could feasibly support and have happening within the library at the same time, while also allowing for space for patrons who want to browse for books and just use the library,” says Paula Bannon, head of children’s services at Schlow. “We had fun thinking about what families might like to do together — and the idea of coming together to play a board game on a chilly winter day had a cozy feel to it. So we started with that and worked out from there.”

Vistors who stop by the day of can enter to win a Frost Fest Friend (a winter-themed stuffed animal of their choice), regardless of participation in the game.
