Local Watercolor Artist Exhibits Work at Schlow

Sofia Austin’s exhibition runs throughout December in library’s gallery
Schlow Library

Local artist Sofia Austin has a new exhibition in Schlow Centre Region Library’s Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery during the month of December. Austin’s exhibition runs through December 31.

A signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Austin studied art under the Colombian painter Libe de Zulategui. Her work is in the general tradition of English watercolor painting of her country of birth. Many of her paintings use paint applied in transparent layers, with strong use of background white or dark colors, in order to create impressions of light and shade in subdued and subtle fashion.

Schlow Library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
