Board of Supervisors Approve Agreement for Recruitment of Chief of Police by GovHR

GovHR is a public management firm that specializing in comprehensive executive recruitment for local governments.

The Board of Supervisors authorized the Township Manager to execute an agreement with GovHR to assist with the recruitment of a new Chief of Police for the Ferguson Township Police Department.

GovHR has been hired by the Township in the past to recruit multiple leadership staff at Ferguson Township, including Township Manager, Centrice Martin, and current Chief of Police, Chris Albright.

The search will occur in multiple phases:

  • Phase I: Position Assessment, Position Announcement & Brochure
  • Phase II: Advertising, Candidate Recruitment & Outreach 
  • Phase III: Candidate Evaluation & Screening
  • Phase IV: Presentation of Recommended Candidates
  • Phase V: Interviewing Process & Background Screening
  • Phase VI: Appointment of Candidate

The expected timeline, as outlined in the proposal from GovHR, will be a 14-week process.

Chief of Police, Chris Albright, submitted his resignation at the Board of Supevisors Regular Meeting held on June 21, 2022. His final days with the Township will be in late August or early September 2022.

Ferguson Township will continue to provide updates to residents about the status of the search for a new Chief of Police.
