Printable Version - Ferguson Township Police make arrest in August 22 bank robbery and bomb threats

November 3, 2017

The Ferguson Township Police Department (FTPD) arrested 31-year-old Rodrequis Armanti Council of State College Friday, November 3, 2017, for his role in the bomb threats and bank robbery that occurred on August 22, 2017. Council was charged with Criminal Conspiracy (Robbery), Criminal Conspiracy (Theft by Unlawful Taking), Terroristic Threats and Receiving Stolen Property.

Police determined that Council conspired with a 40-year-old Georgia man to build the bomb-like devices and place them at Research West (Penn State Campus) and at the North Atherton Street Wal-Mart to divert police from the area of the robbery. Council also helped select the bank that was later robbed by the Georgia man.

While FTPD detectives were focusing their investigation on these two men, the Georgia man robbed a bank in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  He was apprehended shortly after the robbery.  The department is working with the FBI to file charges against the man being held in Virginia.  Council was not involved with the Virginia bank robbery.

Magisterial District Judge Carmine Prestia set bail for Council at $300,000.  Council was taken to the Centre County Correctional Facility.
