We appreciate your reaching out during Winter Storm Harper

Date: January 21, 2019

Winter Storm Harper brought 8 - 9 inches of snow to Ferguson Township on Saturday, January 19.  Our Public Works road crews worked hard to keep roads safe for driving by clearing them of ice, snow and other hazards. The Township also performs winter maintenance on eight shared use paths.

Ferguson Township appreciates your letting us know how our winter operations are helping and how we can improve. Thanks for your patience and for reaching out to us with questions, suggestions and concerns. Thanks also for giving us the opportunity to help. Whether you email us, call, stop by, comment or message us through social media, we hope you will continue to communicate with us. Our Contact Us form is an easy way to reach out. We follow up as promptly as possible.

We appreciated these messages from our residents and others in our community:

From our community partner, CentreMoves:
"Thank you, Ferguson Township, for maintaining our bike paths during these winter months!"

"Thank you lots to the snowplow drivers; one is outside my house right now."

Another resident saw a positive outcome after speaking with his student neighbor, who may have been unaware of the Township’s “no street parking during snowfall” policy. “I told him that when a snow emergency is declared, he needs to move his cars to the driveway and/or garage.  I stressed that the police could fine and/or tow his cars, just as the Ferguson website states.  In addition, I told him to tell the rest of his friends in the other houses as well.  I must have gotten throughby early evening, the rest of the four cars that are always parked in the street were in a driveway!  Hopefully, this responsible behavior will continue.”

We appreciate Marisa Ferger, member of Penn State’s Weather Communications Group,
for this tweet on Sunday:
"A big thanks to the @FergusonTwpPA public works department for not only clearing the roads quickly, but the bike paths as well!"

The Township plowed the bike paths on Saturday evening and followed up with a second round on Sunday morning.

We passed this note of thanks along to PennDOT: "The drivers of the snow plow trucks coming past my house on West Pine Grove Road during this current snow should be commended for their care in maintaining a slow speed and getting as close to the curb as is reasonable."

We've put together a gallery of photos from the morning after the storm—featuring our picturesque shared use paths. Ferguson Township is a beautiful community in every season, and we are dedicated to keeping it that way. Thank you for helping us to take care of it.
