Open House on the Zoning and SALDO Ordinances

Date: February 21, 2019
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Ferguson Township is performing a major update to both the Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development (SALDO) ordinances that Planning & Zoning staff expect will be adopted early this year. A fifth generation of revisions to these ordinances was completed and presented to the Planning Commission at its meeting on January 28

Changes will be forthcoming. For example, the Department of Planning & Zoning is expected to rezone the following areas:

• a section of North Atherton Street from Commercial/Office to Commercial only.
• five parcels around Harner Farm from Rural Agricultural (RA) to R1 (Residential) or Commercial, consistently zoning them with all adjacent parcels. There will be a buffer between the commercial and residential areas.
• a section of homes adjacent to the Agricultural Research (AR) site of the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Rock Springs (Penn State Ag Progress Days) from AR to R1 (Residential).

Textual changes to the ordinance will include Ordinance “Quickviews” that allow the reader to gain access to permitted use information, lot size and setback requirements for a particular district on just one page.

The Department of Planning & Zoning will host an open house for residents who have questions about changes to these ordinances as well as updates to the zoning map. Those attending will have an opportunity to explore the idea board as well. The staff plan to meet one-on-one at the open house with those who have questions about developing or subdividing their property, as well as permitted uses on their property.
