Ferguson Township Police and negotiation team respond to attempted suicide at Tudek Park

Date: December 13, 2018

Ferguson Township Police responded to a call for help at Tudek Park early this morning. A 23-year-old male called the 9-1-1 call center to report that he was at the park with a gun and intended to harm himself.

FTPD and trained negotiators including officers from Patton Township, Penn State University Police and Public Safety, and State College Police isolated the area to ensure that no one visiting the park at the time was in danger. While negotiators were attempting to help the victim, he shot himself. Conscious and alert, he was Life Flighted to a trauma center.

Ferguson Township Police want to remind the community how critical it is to call for help if you or someone you know is in despair and at risk for suicide.
