Supervisors seek community volunteers to apply for ABC vacancies

The Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors is seeking community volunteers to fill vacancies on local and regional Authorities, Boards and Commissions (ABCs). The application period is open through Thursday, November 1. 

The Board of Supervisors will interview applicants in November and December. Appointments will be made at the Board’s Organizational Meeting in January, 2019

Positions are open on these authorities, boards and commissions:

Centre Region Parks and Recreation Authority (6 members)
1 vacancy, 5-year term

C-NET Representative (13 members)
1 vacancy, 1-year term

Industrial and Commercial Development Authority (ICDA) (5 members)
2 vacancies, 5-year term

Parks and Recreation Committee (7 members)
1 vacancy, 4-year term

Planning Commission (7 members; 1 alternate)
1 vacancy, 4-year term

State College Borough Water Authority (SCBWA) Representative (7 members)
1 vacancy, 1-year term

Tax Review Board (7 members)
2 vacancies, 4-year terms

Tree Commission (5 members)
3 vacancies, 4-year terms

Zoning Hearing Board (5 members)
1 vacancy, 5-year term

Zoning Hearing Board Alternates (3 members)
3 vacancies, 3-year terms

Ferguson Township Authorities, Boards and Commissions Appointment Policy, 2017-20


At its Regular Meeting on October 2, 2017, the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors adopted a policy for the appointment of representatives on local and regional Authorities, Boards, and Commissions: 

Each new calendar year, current members are asked if they wish to continue. They are not required to re-apply unless they need to report a change to their original application. Every current and prospective member is interviewed in November or December. Appointments are approved and announced at the Board's Organizational Meeting in January.
