Pine Grove Mills Watershed Clean-up Day

Date: April 21, 2018
Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

You're invited to join ClearWater Conservancy's 22nd annual Watershed Clean-up Day by working in the Slab Cabin Watershed in Pine Grove Mills.

PGM volunteers will be meeting at the pull off along East Chestnut Street about 8:30 am. They will start at 26 and East Chestnut and work upstream. The group will move to another location near Clearfield Bank by 10am.

If you're unable to make it at 8:30 am, please contact Sarah Potter to let her know so that the group can arrange to meet up with you.

Volunteers also are invited to attend the free thank you picnic at Circleville Park, which starts at 11 am. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, baked goods, and other refreshments will be provided, and the festivities will include live music and games.

What to wear and bring to the Clean-up

  • ClearWater Conservancy recommends wearing pants and a long-sleeved shirt, a ball cap or other brimmed hat, and boots. This type of clothing will provide the best protection against the elements, ticks, and any litter you are cleaning up.
  • Bring a jacket and/or dress in layers because it will likely be chilly during the early hours of Clean-up Day.
  • If the weather forecast calls for rain, please pack rain gear.
  • It is also advisable to bring sunscreen, bug spray, and hand sanitizer with you, as well as a change of clothes, especially if it rains right before or during the cleanup.
  • Please bring your own water bottle.

Safety precautions

  • Use good judgment in the situations you encounter at your particular work site and be mindful of your physical limitations.
  • Don’t try to scale very steep banks or lift heavy objects by yourself.
  • Closely supervise children in your group.
  • If you find any questionable or dangerous items (i.e., drug paraphernalia, weapons, etc.) during your clean-up, please do not touch. Make note of the location and report the items to your group leader.
