Board of Supervisors proclaims April 21 as Watershed Cleanup Day

At its Regular Meeting on March 19, the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors proclaimed April 21, 2018 as Watershed Cleanup Day in Ferguson Township. The proclamation coincides with ClearWater Conservancy's 22nd Annual Watershed Cleanup Day in the Centre Region, which will take place from 8 am to noon on Saturday, April 21. 

The proclamation reads:

Whereas, Ferguson Township affirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and preserving the quality of life in its Mission Statement and Strategic Plan, and

Whereas, over the past 21 years, hundreds of volunteers, with the assistance of exemplary community minded businesses, have helped to remove and properly dispose of 3,078 tons of waste and trash, and

Whereas, the Watershed Cleanup Day provides an opportunity for natural resource stewardship, community involvement and environmental education, which are components of the Chesapeake Bay Strategy; and

Whereas, Ferguson Township and ClearWater Conservancy encourage individuals and groups to be a part of Watershed Cleanup Day by joining friends and neighbors to help keep Centre County clean and beautiful.

Also happening on Saturday, April 21:

Master gardeners and community stewards will come together at 9 am for the annual Spring Clean-up of their Demonstration Gardens at the Snetsinger Butterfly Garden.
