Guidelines for proper curbside removal of furniture

Residents are reminded that furniture for collection by your trash hauler may be placed curbside only during designated Fall and Spring Bulk Waste Collection weeks.

Fall 2018 Bulk Waste Collection Week will take place October 15 – 19.

Those who must remove indoor furniture from porches and patios under the provisions of the Centre Region Building Safety and Property Maintenance Code are advised that it is your responsibility to arrange for a private hauler to collect this furniture.

Chapter 3, Section 302.8 of the Property Maintenance Code states:

Interior furniture.
Furniture that is manufactured and intended exclusively for interior use including but not limited to sofas, couches, recliners, chase lounges, upright padded chairs, mattresses, box springs, or any furniture containing sufficient padding, and material whether animal, natural, or manmade that it cannot resist the environmental elements such as weather, insects, rodents, or varments, or which may be in the opinion of the code official a fire hazard, shall not be stored, or left on the lawn, driveway, parking area, or walkway.

That furniture that is properly placed at the curbside for refuse collection.
