State College won the 2017 VFW Teener League State Tournament on Tuesday, July 25, at Ferguson Township’s Louis E. Silvi Baseball Complex.

Undefeated in the state tournament with a 4-0 record, and an overall All-Star record of 10-2, State College's VFW 13-14 Teener League beat Mt. Union 14 to 4.

This was the first time State College won the Teener League state championship, as well as the first year that State College has hosted the state tournament. Participating teams also included Clearfield, Albright, Spring Cove, Stammel, Tyrone, and West Schuylkill, which took 3rd place in the tournament.

The VFW 13-14 Teener League’s Alex Hlivia and Mt. Union’s Tyler Renninger were named State Tournament Most Valuable Players.

The VFW team’s manager is Chad Dworsky, and assistant coaches are Steve Kurzinger, Jim Rohan, and Mike Tussey.
