FTPD alerted to suspicious package found in a new vehicle

On July 11, 2017, Ferguson Township Police were dispatched to a local car dealership for a suspicious package
found inside a vehicle.  As the dealership staff inspected a newly delivered vehicle, they discovered a strange
package in the spare tire storage compartment.  Ferguson Police officers discovered that the package contained 25 pounds of marijuana.
The new vehicle is connected to a shipment of cars from an assembly plant in Mexico. Thirteen other cars, distributed across the United States, had similar packages of marijuana in the spare tire compartment.
The estimated street value of the marijuana is $100,000.
