Guide to C-NET services
C-NET helps you decide for yourself

by C-NET Executive Director Cynthia Hahn

C-NET is Centre County’s Government and Educational Access Network? What is an “Access Network?"  Access Channels in the United States may be one of three kinds: Government Access, Educational Access or Public Access. Often, they are a combination of two or three of these.  C-NET serves both local governments and local educational entities and their constituencies.

C-NET is not a news organization.  Although much of our programming is newsworthy and appears in the news media the next day or two, our mission is not to offer any sort of analysis or interpretation.  Instead, C-NET provides “gavel to gavel” coverage of a wide variety of local meetings and informative programs. This coverage allows citizens and taxpayers unfiltered access to the discussions happening at their school board, County, regional or municipal meetings. There is no substitute for the ability to watch complete deliberations, and C-NET’s mission is to provide citizens with the information they need to fully participate in their local government.

C-NET provides coverage of both the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors and the Township Planning Commission.   The meetings are televised on Comcast Channel 7 at the following times in the six days following a meeting:

Wednesday at 9:00 am
Thursday at 8:00 pm
Friday at 6:00 am
Saturday at 12:30 am

Meetings of the Board of Supervisors are live streamed on C-NET’s YouTube channel: CNETCentreCounty. The recorded meetings are available to view online, on-demand at cnet1.org—usually within 48 hours after the recording.

In addition to the Township meetings, C-NET provides coverage of the State College Area Board of School Directors, the Centre County Commissioners, the Centre Region COG General Forum, the Centre Regional Planning Commission, the State College Borough Water Authority, the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Authority, and the Centre County Metropolitan Planning Organization.  And that’s just to name a few.

The program schedules for C-NET Channels 7 and 98 are posted on the Channel 7 and Channel 98 Bulletin Boards, as well as on cnet1.org.  For more information about C-NET’s programming, please visit cnet1.org, call the C-NET office at (814) 238-5031, or email cnet@cnet1.org.
